Though Stefan is usually very gentle, he has a bit of a temper- especially whenever his brother Damon is involved. When he gets angry he shows violent tendencies, and can lose control. However, whenever the town or his friends are in danger, Stefan will rush over to try to help. He has a strong sense of duty and loyalty. He has also been shown to be willing to sacrifice himself in order to save the people he cares about. Stefan's personality is not all doom and gloom. He displays a wicked sense of humor on several occasions, and when he's around his friends, he relaxes and lets his guard down. Sometimes he even smiles.

Stefan unintentionally hinted to his father about a vampire being present in Mystic Falls, when he told him that vampires might not be as bad as they're said to be. Shortly afterwards his father drugged him with vervain and when Katherine bit him, she was weakened and taken to be destroyed. Damon was devastated and furious with Stefan as he had made him promise not to tell their father.
They decided to free Katherine, but were shot and killed in the process. Stefan woke up the next day and was informed by Emily Bennett, that he and Damon were transitioning into vampires. Katherine had compelled him for weeks to drink her blood while Damon drank willingly.
Stefan later went to see his father, who revealed that he was the one who shot Damon and Stefan, beginning their transitioning. When he tried to kill Stefan, he accidentally stabbed himself. Stefan tried to help him, but the lust for blood was overwhelming and when he tasted his father's blood, he became a vampire.
Stefan then compelled a young woman to go with him to Damon where he convinced his brother to become a vampire by drinking her blood. Damon, a full vampire, declared he was going to make Stefan's life miserable for the rest of eternity. It was later revealed that Damon was angry that Katherine had changed Stefan as well, which was the reason why he hates him so much.
Time has passed, Stefan has since returned to Mystic Falls where he attends the high school as a senior and is dating Elena Gilbert. His brother has come home too. He and his brother has had to fight off evil as it's come thier way, along with fighting his brothers vegenance for him and his desire of Elena. He loved Elena and is seen as very protective of her. The two are nearly inseperable these days.
That was until the ritual of Klaus's. Stefan has since started working for Klaus. He does his bidding in the aim of trying to build an army of hybrids. Since that fateful night he hasn't seen Elena. He is heavily drinking human blood and killing as he or Klaus sees fit.

Stefan was glad that the weekend had come. He had one football game to play in on Saturday night but as for this night he was free. Fridays he liked for himself and to spend time with Elena. Having gotten home from football practice around six pm, he passed through the door of his house and made his way up to his room.
Inside his room, he gathered some clean clothes and headed off for a much needed shower. Once he was showered and dressed, he headed back into his room to look for his cell phone. He wanted to text Elena and see if she was at home and desired some company.
Perhaps if she wanted him to come over that particular night, he would stop by the store and get some food and make her dinner. He had in his mind, her favorite meal. How could she turn down her favorite food? As he texted her and sent the message, he finished getting dressed. He put on his socks and shoes and brushed his hair.
While he waited for Elena to get back with him, he left his room and headed down the stairs to the living room. As he stepped inside the room, he seen his brother Damon over at the bar area fixing himself a drink. He gave his brother a nod and a little greeting. " Hello Damon. No plans for the night?"
Damon did little but continue pouring his drink and taking a swallow of it before looking back behind him to his brother. He returned the greeting " Stefan." Damon did not feel like elaborating on his plans so he spoke nothing of that while Stefan made his way over to the couch and lowered down to sit.
